C.A. Sadlowski was born and raised in the heart of Cleveland, Ohio, in a tight-knit Polish Catholic neighborhood that helped shape her values, resilience, and sense of humor. Growing up in the city’s east side, she experienced firsthand the traditions, discipline, and rich cultural fabric that defined Cleveland’s ethnic enclaves, particularly the unique character of parochial school life, with its strict nuns, enduring rituals, and a community that felt like an extended family.
A proud graduate of Cleveland’s nursing programs, Sadlowski went on to earn her RN degree and dedicated her career to some of the most emotionally demanding and fast-paced areas of medicine, emergency rooms and labor & delivery. Her roots in Cleveland’s working-class ethos gave her the toughness and compassion to thrive in these high-stakes settings.
She later became a trailblazer in maternal education, serving as the very first LaMaze instructor for the Amish community in rural Ohio. This groundbreaking work bridged modern birth education with deeply traditional culture, showing her unique ability to adapt, connect, and educate across cultural boundaries.
Sadlowski’s Cleveland upbringing is reflected in her writing, rich with grit, warmth, and an unmistakable Midwestern spirit.
